Born 27 November 1852 in Union City, California to Edward CLAWITER and Mary GADING.  Married first Wilhelmine HAMMERBERG (not certain about this, I may have misunderstood the notations).¹  Married second in 1877 in Mt. Eden, California, Anna G. SCHAFER² who had been born 08 April 1856 in Eldorado Hills, Placerville, California and died 01 March 1942 in Alameda, California¹ (her parents had been born in Hanover² and her mother's maiden surname was FRICKE³).
