Coral Lace Light Wrap

Sample Swatch:

Pattern:

Involves St. John's Wort stitch (shown at bottom of the swatch), Campanula (shown just above St. John's Wort, though it doesn't show very well in this swatch) and Ostrich Plumes (most of the swatch).  I'm using the versions of the patterns found in Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls by Martha Waterman.  This is especially important for Ostrich Plumes as some of my other books don't give starting and ending repeats.  Finished wrap is meant to be 2 feet by 5 feet or thereabouts.

Yarn:

Douceur et Soie by Knit One Crochet Two in Coral.  The yarn is 70% baby mohair (fur from baby angora goats) and 30% silk, made in Italy.  Purchased at Shuttles, Needles and Hooks in Cary, North Carolina.  Available for sale many places on the web.  After working with it, it was fun to knit but I joined using knots and they don't want to stay tied.

Gauge:

Stockingette is 6.5 stitches/inch wide & 9 stitches/inch high on #3 needles.  #1 needles looked cool, but the fuzzy part of the yarn wasn't very fun.  I also tried #5 needles and it was much more loopy than I wanted.

Time:

Expected 40 - 60 hours.

I finished knitting this a few years before I got around to figuring how to block it.  In my old house I would just block right on the carpet, but in my nice new house I'm afraid of staining the carpet and had to find a new way to do things.

More Stuff on the Web:

Some neat lace- triangle shawl, Shetland lace shawl.
